To get your wood stove started for the season, you must burn your stove for 1 hour in the open air for the first time it is used!
The protective coating on the stoves needs to be burned off for an hour in the open air before being used in enclosed areas.
We have 2 different stove pipes, in the case of the silver pipe the two lower sections of pipe need to be seasoned as well to burn off the zinc.
If you have a black stove pipe does not have to be seasoned. (But won't hurt it).
Skip this step and your camper will get smoked out of the tent and not enjoy their stay!
A few more important tips:
1. Burn hardwood only. Burning any soft wood (pine) results in immediate creosote build up and damages the tents and stoves.
2. Always have at least 1.5’ of clearance all the way around the stove. This includes wood piles and kindling.
3. Only one kind of paint can be used to touch up the stoves, please notify Tentrr if your wood stove needs a tune up.
4. Do not place any items on top of the stove! They might melt.
We've attached the user manual for the stove so you can take a look!
