A markup is a price increase, usually made to compensate for OTA fees or to yield more revenue based on changes in demand.
In order to list and market your campsite on our partners' booking channels, Tentrr pays a commission fee to these partners on a per booking basis. This is the markup that you might see when comparing your site on tentrr.com with the corresponding listing on an OTA website. Different OTA channels have different fees and commission structures associated with their listings, and so Tentrr marks up the nightly rate on our listings to compensate for these fees:
- OTA commissions (these can range from 3% to 15% depending on the channel)
- Booking platform fees
- Administrative costs to maintain 3rd-party integrations
So what does this mean for my Revenue Share as a CampKeeper?
Your Revenue Share is the percentage amount that you keep from the base rate that you set. You will always receive this amount for confirmed reservations within a few days after the camper checkout.
Your Revenue Share is laid out in the terms of your contract with Tentrr (if you're unsure about what it is just reach out to us).
As a CampKeeper, you always have control over your nightly rate and you can change it at any time.
Any changes that you make to your nightly rate from your CampKeeper dashboard will automatically sync with the booking system that we use to manage our integrations with our OTA channel partners.
Breakdown of a payout for a Tentrr.com reservation:
$100.00 (Nightly Rate)
+ $15.00 (Tentrr Booking Fee)
-------------------------------
$115.00 Total
In the graph below, Tentrr's share is represented in orange, while the CampKeeper's share is in blue.
Breakdown of a payout for an OTA reservation:
$100.00 (Nightly Rate)
+ $20.70 (OTA Markup)
------------------------
$120.70 Total
Similarly, the share for Tentrr and the CampKeeper payouts are represented by orange and blue in graph below. Like the example above, the CampKeeper payout still equals $80 (80% of the nightly rate). Tentrr's share is the markup amount minus any fees and commission we have to pay to our OTA partners. As mentioned above, this amount will vary depending on the booking channel. In the example graph below we used an average of $13.50.
